It might be getting plenty of plaudits in Australia at the moment following this week’s launch, however, Amazon in the UK has found itself in a spot of festive hot water after its Christmas campaign was slammed for basically telling kids there’s no Santa Claus.
The spot shows a father using Amazon’s delivery service to do all his Christmas shopping – complete with singing packages – all the while hiding from his kids who still believe Santa is behind the annual delivery.
But parents have fumed that the ad leaves them facing awkward questions from their children. Check out the offending ad below:

Parents have taken to social media to vent their rage over the ad. “So it’s Amazon that delivers Christmas is it?” wrote one angry parent. “Disgusting that kids who believe in Santa are shown their dad running about with Amazon presents. This kills Christmas.”
While another added: “Thanks @amazon for your advert my 3 year old is asking why the man is hiding with presents, asking if he’s Santa. #confusing #Christmas.”
“Thanks @amazon for your advert my 3 year old is asking why the man is hiding with presents, asking if he’s Santa,” wrote another concerned parent.
Not that Amazon itself was buying into the controversy. A spokesperson for the company telling UK’s The Daily Mail: “Father Christmas and his elves are no doubt working around the clock to get presents to girls and boys around the world. These are just a few extra to give a little love from parents.”
