The largest global IT leadership survey conducted annually by Harvey Nash reveals a more creative, influential CIO, but 65 percent are hindered by the greatest tech skills shortage since 2008. Here’s B&T’s pick of the five most interesting figures and insights from the survey
- 65% of CIOs report they can’t find talent fast enough, up from 59% last year and it’s not been so bad since about 2008
- 44% are going to increase their team size in the coming year (there goes the budget)
- 31% are investing significantly in SaaS this coming year (there goes the budget)
- Technology companies are most likely to have the culture that attracts the best talent but media and marketing aren’t too far down the list
- Ad agencies top the list of organisations that actually have a well defined digital strategy (we said well defined, we didn’t say makes any sense)
- Advertising and media are obsessed with hiring CDOs more than any other sector
