Facebook has launched a new live broadcast feature which will enable videos calls with up to 50 people.
Facebook first announced the new feature – named Messenger Rooms – in April, in response to the booming video conferencing market that emerged from COVID-19.
The feature was officially launched overnight and will allow live broadcasts with up to 50 people to be hosted via Facebook, even if users don’t have a Facebook account.
Rooms can be broadcasted to a Profile, Page or Group and the room creator is able to control who can view the broadcast and who’s invited to participate.
“Whether you’re hosting a book club with friends, interviewing a panel of experts, teaching a fitness class, or broadcasting with your friends for fun, going live from a room makes it easy to have more interactive broadcasts with audiences of any size,” Facebook said upon announcing the new feature.
The feature is now live and Facebook will continue to add enhancements in the coming months, the company said.
