Out Of This World: Pinterest Reveals Extra Celestial-Themed Cairns Crocodiles Welcome Party
SHARE

The theme for the official, legendary Pinterest Welcome Party at Cairns Crocodiles 2026 has been revealed — and it’s seriously out of this world.

You heard it here first. The iconic opening bash on 12 May will take on an ‘Extra Celestial’ theme, inspired by the Pinterest Predicts trend forecasting report.

Set to transform a top-secret Cairns location into a cosmic playground for one unforgettable night, the party promises a full-scale sensory experience.

Think iridescent textures, holographic details, opalescent beauty looks and silhouettes straight out of a sci-fi fantasy.

Whether guests go full galactic or keep it low orbit with subtle shimmer, the dress code brief is clear: arrive cosmic, comfortable and ready to dance under the stars.

Artists from both Sydney and Cairns are contributing to the design of the Pinterest Welcome Party.

“The Extra Celestial theme is all about stepping into something immersive, expressive and completely transportive,” said Melinda Petrunoff, MD of Pinterest Australia and New Zealand.

“We’re bringing one of our Pinterest Predicts trends to life in a way that invites people to explore, experiment and show up as their most creative selves.”

The location of the opening event, for now, remains under wraps, with organisers promising a setting that will elevate the experience even further.

More than a dress code, the event is set to be a full sensory takeover.

The soon-to-be announced space will be reimagined by The Misfits Agency. Insiders who spoke to B&T on condition of anonymity described it as a “cosmic industrial playground,” with reflective surfaces and unique installations creating a world that feels both futuristic and otherworldly.

“Guests can expect immersive, interactive moments throughout the night, but we’re keeping a few surprises up our sleeve,” said Vanessa Rolfe, managing director of client services at The Misfits Agency.

“What I can say is that we’re bringing Pinterest Predicts to life in a bold and unexpected way. Expect to have your minds blown.”

The Extra Celestial-themed Pinterest Welcome Party follows last year’s unforgettable bash, which took over a former Bunnings warehouse and featured a headline set from Ministry of Sound.

“The result is always a party that goes far beyond networking drinks, delivering a fully immersive experience that captures the energy, creativity and cultural edge Cairns Crocodiles has become known for,” Rolfe added.

Pinterest Predicts is an annual highly accurate trend forecasting report from Pinterest that identifies emerging trends across beauty, fashion, home and food for the upcoming year. It uses search data from over half a billion monthly users, combining machine learning with human analysis to spot emerging trends before they go mainstream.

Only full ticket holders will gain access to the Welcome Party, making it one of the most sought-after invites of the festival.

A friendly heads up: closed-toe shoes are a must — we love a look, but safety first!

In case you missed it, world-class speakers are on the agenda, including Taika Waititi, who surely wouldn’t miss this!
