Creative director Kevin Lim from creative agency Edge is one of ten finalists to be named for the Dendy Award for Australian Short Film as part of this year’s Sydney Film Festival.
This film marks Lim’s third outing as writer / director for Soda Honey Films. Formed through friendships made in the advertising and TV production world, this collective’s previous films ‘Lichen’ and ‘The Pledge for Mr Bunny’ have been recognised globally at festivals including the Warsaw and Palm Springs international film festivals, FlickerFest and Tropfest.
‘Whispers Among Wolves’ explores the co-dependent relationship between two workaholics during their weekly business dinner meeting. Lines of professional and personal conduct are blurred between alcoholic CEO, Shilo and her long suffering P.A, Teddy as themes of loss and sacrifice are explored, whilst challenging gender stereotypes.
Lim said: “I wanted to examine a moment between two characters who are broken from their loyalty to one another and left to question what remains in their lives.”
With 300 submissions received, 2015 will mark the 45th year of Sydney Festival’s short film competition – making it the oldest and most hotly contested short film competition in Australia. Winners are then qualified for the 2016 Academy Awards.
