Drake’s New Music Video Is Basically One Long Nike Commercial

Canadian rapper/producer Drake dropped his latest single over the weekend, but it’s the accompanying video that appears to be getting all the attention.

The tune is called Laugh Now Cry Later and the video is shot entirely at Nike’s Oregon headquarters and includes more Nike Swoosh logos than any CMO could possibly hope for.

Drake – already a Nike ambassador (although it’s never been made official) – is seen wearing Nikes in the clip and even Nike-sponsored sports stars make an appearance, including basketballer Kevin Durant and gridiron stars Odell Beckham Jr and Marshawn Lynch.

The 34-year-old was previously signed to Nike’s Jordan Brand, a partnership he announced in 2013. He was reportedly pitched by and came close to a deal with Adidas in 2018, but the partnership never came to fruition. Since then, the rapper has aligned himself with Nike, although neither party ever officially announced any deal had been inked.

It’s not clear if the sports giant paid Drake for his latest video, but it’s abundantly clear it was very happy to open its headquarters for the filming of the video.

The new song will feature on Drake’s upcoming album Certified Lover Boy which is due out some time later this year.
