Dettol Named Most Trusted Aussie Brand, Says Reader’s Digest

Window washing with cleaning agent. Unfocused hand

It appears we really rely on Dettol to get rid of all the germs with Reader’s Digest finding the sanitising brand tops the list of the most trusted brands in Australia.

The list of Australia’s Most Trusted Brands is part of the publication’s annual Trust series.

Social media has played a big part in Aussies brand trust, with Reader’s Digest suggesting more than 90 per cent of social media users trust reviews of our fellow consumers.

Within the top ten most trusted brands in Australia, Dettol tops the list, followed by Dulux and Colgate.

  1. Dettol
  2. Dulux
  3. Colgate
  4. Band-Aid
  5. Dyson
  6. Parker Pens
  7. Panadol
  8. Sony
  9. Twinings
  10. Lipton

List sourced from Reader’s Digest.

Apart from the overall most trusted brands, Reader’s Digest pulls apart the categories to find the most trusted brands in each.

In the confectionary arena, Cadbury has been knocked off its perch to be overtaken by Lindt as the most trust chocolate, however Hills Hoist maintains the ‘most iconic brand’ title.

Cruise line P&O Cruises tops the cruise operator category, with Toyota finding first place in the car category.

“Many purchases are made with the heart and, even in this digital age, it’s the brands which continue to offer quality and substance that hold our trust,” said Australian Reader’s Digest editor-in-chief, Sue Carney.

“But it also has to be acknowledged that the process of winning our trust has shifted dramatically, with many people preferring the testimonials of their fellow-consumers on social media.”

The full list will be in the next edition of Readers Digest.
