Dentsu Aegis Network-owned agency dentsu X has been appointed to handle the media planning and buying duties for Jaguar Land Rover.
B&T understands that dentsu X will take over from WPP’s Mindshare on the account, which has been handling it for 17 years.
Dentsu Aegis Network (DAN) and Mindshare declined to comment when contacted by B&T.
A Jaguar Land Rover Australia spokesperson confirmed to B&T that Jaguar Land Rover has appointed DAN to provide global media planning and buying services.
“This review is part of our standard business process and coincides with the completion of the existing agency’s agreement,” the spokesperson said.
The account is estimated to be worth $500 million globally, and is understood to have been passed on to DAN late last year.
The account win comes as dentsu X announced its expansion to Sydney, having opened an office in the harbour city earlier this month.
The win will also soften dentsu X’s recent loss of the federal government’s coveted master media contract to UM.
