For all you Eurovision fans and even those who aren’t fans, it’s time to celebrate because Australia is officially in the Grand Final of the lucrative musical event of the year.
Our country’s own Dami Im performed a killer rendition of her entry Sound Of Silence at the second semi-final this morning (Australia time), smashing her way into the finals in the most elegant of styles.
Im is Australia’s second entrant to Eurovision, following Guy Sebastian, who placed fifth last year with his song Tonight Again.
But while Sebastian last year was granted a guaranteed spot in the final as a bit of a kind shoutout to Australia, Im had to actually earn her place in the final, making her victory even sweeter.
You can see the performance here:
Interesting to note that after her performance, gambling kings Sportsbet slashed her odds of winning to make her the second favourite to win behind Russia, with her odds dropping from $19 to $5.
Diehard fans tweeted that the cheers for the girl from down under were among some of the most raucous.
