CommBank and Bunnings’ marketing chiefs, Jo Boundy and Justine Mills, have been talking all things retail media as part of B&T’s CMO Power List, presented by atn.

“It helps our suppliers connect with our customers, which is amazing for them. But also it makes us think about things differently, like partnering with The Block and getting our suppliers involved in that. And our own channels—we’re now a publisher, so you have to think about where the traffic is, where the customers are. It’s been exciting for the whole team.”
In late 2024, CommBank launched its own retail media business—CommBank Connect.
“It’s such a shift in the landscape for all of our industries,” concurred Boundy.
Mills and Boundy are just two of the CMOs who featured on B&T’s CMO Power List.
Suncorp’s Mim Haysom and Telstra’s Brent Smart also joined the ranks of power. Together, they discussed the “myth” that CMOs lack influence in the boardroom, among other things.
Coles’ Michael Courtney and Tourism Australia’s Susan Coghill similarly discussed leading businesses through times of significant change.
