Budgy Smuggler has signed Australian Test cricketer, Travis Head as its first-ever ambassador of peak performance.
The three-year partnership is the longest in Budgy Smuggler’s history. Legal counsel advised against a term this long. This is also the longest agreement signed in smuggling history.
“We didn’t set out to sign an athlete. We set out to sign a philosophy,” said Budgy Smuggler founder and chief smuggler Adam Linfort
“Trav is everything we stand for. Having a crack. Backing yourself. Being the sort of bloke you’d want to have a beer with. When people ask me what this deal means, I tell them ‘this is bigger than swimwear’ and then I let the silence do the rest.”
Asked whether three years was a long time to commit given the unpredictable nature of professional sport, Mr Linforth appeared momentarily unable to comprehend the question. “The runs will come and the runs will go,” he said. “But Trav being a mad dawg is forever.”
Under the agreement, Head has personally co-designed two signature pairs, each manufactured in Australia by hand, by Australians, for Australia.
The debut range is available online from launch, with a national rollout through Rebel Sport from September.
