Bud Light & Shane Gillis Celebrate College Football Season In Hilarious New Spot

The college football stage is officially set for kickoff, and Bud Light is back at the centre of the fan action with a brand-new campaign starring friend of the brand, actor and comedian Shane Gillis.

Together, Bud Light and Gillis deliver their signature humour with a new creative, “Vendor Voices,” that shows the great lengths fans will go to for the clean, crisp taste of Bud Light.

To help excite fans across the United States, Bud Light’s limited-edition collection of college team cans is also returning for 28 of the college teams sponsored by the brand, giving fans more ways to rally around their team at home, at the bar or tailgates across the US.

A lineup of Bud Light cans features custom designs for different college sports teams, displayed against a stadium backdrop with the Bud Light logo above.

“The next-level excitement, passion and energy that college football fans bring to the table continues to raise the bar higher for us as a brand. Bud Light has a decades-long history of delivering fans unforgettable football experiences, laugh-out-loud content and great-tasting beer every season,” said Todd Allen, SVP Marketing, Bud Light.

“Shane is a great friend of Bud Light, a true football fan and was an instrumental part of our college football campaign last year. It was a no brainer to have him co-create our campaign for this season and turn up the laughs for college football fans once again. Plus, no one knows better than Shane the best way to spend game day is with friends and an ice-cold Bud Light.”

Bud Light teamed up with Gillis and his long-time writing partner, John McKeever, who also directed the spot, to co-write “Vendor Voices,” bringing their signature humour straight to the stands.

The spot is a change of pace for the brand who in 2023 found itself in the firing line over the choice to partner with trans model Dylan Mulvaney for a controversial campaign.

Gillis plays a college football fan who’s looking for the ultimate game day compliment: an ice-cold Bud Light. We see Gillis go through the struggle of trying to flag down a beer vendor through the crowd without missing the action on the field, which turns into a hilarious game of shouting back and forth as the two try and find each other.

With classic comedic timing just as Gillis is unsure what else to do, a friend returns from a beer run and hands him a Bud Light, so they can go back to enjoying the game. This marks Gillis’ third campaign with the brand following last year’s inaugural college football campaign and his Super Bowl debut earlier this year.

“This was a fun one for John and I to make together,” said actor and comedian Gillis.

“Vendor Voices” is set to run in both :15 and :30 formats throughout the college football season starting today, and will air during college football games through Bud Light’s key media partners spanning ABC, NBC, ESPN and FOX in the United States.

Aussie fans can also keep across the laughs with season-long content across Bud Light and Gillis’ socials for even more game day antics and college football fun as additional content drops.
