PR’s queen Roxy Jacenko has revealed to B&T why she’s leaving PR, and, no, it wasn’t because the poo jogger drove her to it.
Jacenko rocked Australia when she announced that she was stepping away after almost two decades at the helm of her iconic PR firm Sweaty Betty. The doors to her iconic agency have officially closed.
Jacenko confirmed to B&T, “I have decided to close the agency at the end of November. It has been an incredible 18 years at the helm working with some of the world’s most incredible brands and identities, but it is time now to refocus my energy and spend time living.
“I also want to focus on my other businesses. The Ministry of Talent, online Toy Store and Pixie’s PIx and my homewares brand XRJ.”
Jacenko explained that she’s incredibly proud of what she has achieved in her career. She built her empire from nothing.
She said: “No one thought I could do it, untrained, no degree, but what I offered was not the norm, and it worked, and that is what I’m proud of!
“I never looked at what the competitors were doing, and I had my head down and just did what I knew no one else was doing, and I always took risks!”
“I’ve lived and breathed @sweatybettypr (in sickness and in health, quite literally), but now it’s time to live, and continue to build my brands.
“I’m proud! I feel like I earned that title I’ve been labelled “PR Queen”, and at the same time, I have tears because, wow, what a fucking ride it’s been!!!!!!! So before you hear it from anyone else, ’cause hey, once a PR girl, always a PR girl.”

Jacenko is already hustling again and has been promoting her new eight-month mentor program kicking off this month.
However, Jacenko’s iconic Sweaty Betty doors closing is definitely the end of a PR era. Still, there’s no doubt Jacenko will continue being a media powerhouse.
