CEO Bronwyn Heys has stepped down from Australian Marketing Institute (AMI) with commercial executive Kathryn Illy stepping in as acting CEO.
Bronwyn leaves AMI for a undisclosed CMO role.
Under Heys’ watch, the industry body has enjoyed sustained growth. Like any marketer’s dream, she has been able to impact all AMI’s touch points including business strategy, brand proposition, member value, revenue, operations, communications, content, stakeholder management, team development and much more.
“The opportunity to drive the AMI member value proposition, rebuild the brand and launch the country’s leading marketing competency framework and digital assessment tool have been some of the things that have made the last four years as CEO remarkable. To all our members, partners, volunteers, team and board, thank you for being a part of this evolution. I look forward to continuing my involvement with AMI as a Fellow Member and catching up at the AMI Marketing Excellence Awards in September,” commented Heys.
“This is a farewell but not a goodbye! Bronwyn has been pivotal in making AMI more commercially disciplined and future focused. She has reset our operating model and delivered our enhanced digital ecosystem. Through Bronwyn’s drive, AMI is a place where all professional marketers and corporate marketing teams across Australia can fully lean in, more than ever, to further their career, expertise and business goals. On behalf of the AMI Board and our members, thank you Bronwyn,” said Kristie Atkins, AMI Chair
With Heys’ move back into a CMO role, AMI welcomes Illy as acting CEO. She will take a leave of absence from the institute’s national board to support the consistently growing organisation. Previously, Illy has held leadership roles at organisations including Destination NSW, PWC, Macquarie Group and CommBank.
She brings deep experience in customer and stakeholder engagement, new and emerging technologies, strong and effective communication.
“Thank you to Bronwyn for your contribution to AMI. You have achieved such positive change for our individual and corporate members. We wish you the best of luck in your new CMO role,” added Illy.
“Across the next period, I will be focused on ensuring the big value items for our members are on track to deliver. AMI is home to the Emerging Marketers Program, leading training and education programs, Australasia’s Awards for Marketing Excellence, state committee events, university accreditation and the profession’s top designation, Certified Practising Marketer. I look forward to working with our teams to keep driving the strong, forward momentum.”
The appointment ensures business as usual at AMI. The inhouse team will operate under her leadership, with the support of the national board.
