Yesterday Joy Agency announced its ECD Steve Back was leaving for a ‘undisclosed new gig’, well now it’s official: Brilliant Films is thrilled to announce the signing of Steve Back, a multi-award winning creative who joins the roster after making the transition across to directing.
With a number of commercials already under his belt, Back is a director with an astute eye for strong visual narratives, comedy performance and stand out concept and design direction. Judging the Integrated and Collaborative category at this year’s D&AD Awards, Back champions the power of strong creative partnerships when executing ideas.
“The opportunity to collaborate with like-minded creatives and the challenge to take on this new direction with my career is truly exciting,” said Back. “I’m looking forward to building on the execution of ideas, kicking them about with my fellow comrades and pushing them forward, to help take them to the next level.”
In his previous role as creative partner of Sydney agency Joy, Back brings with him a wealth of industry experience, which Brilliant Films executive producer Stephanie Ceccaldi says is one of the driving forces behind his desire to put ideas at the forefront.
“Steve is unquestionably one of the most talented directors I have worked with and brings with him an abundance of knowledge,” Ceccaldi explained. “He’s able to collaborate and communicate with creatives on another level when focussing on bringing ideas to life – and if it’s a good idea, Steve will fight for it.”
Ceccaldi adds that as the industry continues to evolve at rapid pace, the need for more unification and collaboration means that it’s the perfect time to embark on a new adventure with Back.
“Being able to offer agencies a unique alignment with Steve in the production side of the world, we are incredibly lucky to have him on board and look forward to extending our relationship with our clients and being in a position to offer them much more.”
Back’s signing coincides with Brilliant Films celebrating its 10-year anniversary, marking a decade’s worth of producing celebrated work in the local region and beyond.
