The headline-making defamation trial between Ben Robert-Smith and three major newspapers has come to a halt due to the COVID-19 outbreak in Sydney.
Robert-Smith is suing three newspapers for defamation, two of which are owned by Nine.
News.com.au reported yesterday that the high profile trial would be adjourned until 19 July.
This ruling comes after the COVID-19 outbreak in Sydney has made it difficult for witnesses to travel to testify in the defamation case.
The witnesses, some of whom are former SAS soldiers could not testify via videolink as the information shared during their testimonies could be potentially sensitive.
These security concerns are valid, considering News.com.au, reported that a recording of Monday’s proceedings had appeared on the Quickchannel streaming platform.
Roberts-Smith has denied all allegations made against him in the trial. While Nine has taken a truth defence.
