Authentic Entertainment Launches 2 New Radio Shows

Authentic Entertainment has announced the launch of two major new flagship radio shows in Australia, including the unprecedented move of taking the Vevo brand into radio, with a third show hitting the airwaves in February.

Broadcast nationally across Today’s Hit Network, Planet Vevo and The Drop will bring two new distinct formats to Australian airwaves.

In a global first, Planet Vevo adds an exciting new radio dimension to Vevo, the world’s leading all-premium music video and entertainment platform. Hosted by rising stars Dan & Maz every Sunday between 2-5pm, the show will take listeners on a round the world journey via its 14 international studios, providing exclusive content from their favourite artists with exclusive news, interviews and performances. Established Vevo properties – including new artist premieres, LIFT (which celebrates fresh talent) and Certified (which heroes the world’s biggest music videos with over 100 million views each) – will be introduced to a new medium, alongside brand new local content segments including Drop in studio, Music Runner and In-flight.

The launch of the show makes Australia the first and only market in the world where Vevo has a radio format, one that was specifically developed for the market by Authentic Entertainment’s creative team.

The Drop will become the electronic dance music (EDM) destination for Australia’s burgeoning dance community, making it effortless for EDM lovers to keep right up-to-date with all the latest happenings in the global dance music scene. The show will be broadcast nationally on Friday from 10pm-1am and Saturday from 6pm to midnight, hosted by Marty Smiley and Michael Beveridge and featuring a steady stream of guest appearances and mixes from the world’s elite DJs and artists. To kick off the opening show, Dutch superstar DJ Hardwell will be dropping in a one-off mix from his new album ‘United We Are’ – a mix that will not be available anywhere else in the world.

Authentic Entertainment CEO John Wardley said, “Our aim is to deliver innovative radio shows that build loyal communities of listeners. Planet Vevo is a worldwide first and The Drop puts a stamp of authority on the Australian dance community.” Wardley adds, “This will be huge year for original content at Authentic Entertainment across digital and broadcast.”

The Drop will debut first on Saturday 24 January, with Planet Vevo launching the following day on Sunday 25 January. Details of the third show are set to be announced soon.
