Australian Bananas Call On Aussies To ‘Bring A Banana, Bring A Mate’ To Gyms Via Thinkerbell

After launching in 2024, growing to a thousand gyms in 2025 and extending to pools with Swim Pass, Banana Gym Pass is back with double the energy, as Australian Bananas and Thinkerbell call on Aussies to ‘Bring a banana, Bring a mate’ this National Banana Day.

Continuing to get the nation moving in its third year, Banana Gym Pass again transforms nature’s original energy bar into a nationwide gym membership. For one day on 7 October, simply showing up with bananas grants you and a friend free entry to over 900 participating gyms across the country.

Based on the insight that people are more likely to stay motivated when they work out with a friend, this year’s Banana Gym Pass invites Aussies to grab their mate, grab a banana, and head to their nearest participating gym for a shared sweat session.

To get Aussies to gyms across Australia with a banana and a mate, Australian Bananas partnered with Nova FM to rally Aussies through live national breakfast reads and social content. The campaign tapped into the mate-ship between breakfast hosts Ricki-Lee Coulter and Tim Blackwell, with content following Blackwell’s first-ever trip to the gym, spurred on by Coulter, who challenged him to rack up as many gym visits as possible.

A squad of influencers across Australia followed with more content, buddying up with a mate and hitting the gym together, each with a banana in hand.

“We know it’s easier to stay active when you have a friend by your side. So, for the platform’s third year, we’re encouraging Aussies to team up, move, and feel good with the natural fuel of Australian Bananas. With ‘bring a banana, bring a mate’ and access to more participating gyms than ever, we’re now powering shared workouts across the country,” said Belinda Van Schaik, head of marketing, Hort Innovation.

Thinkerbell, head tinker, Zac Goldberg added, “Year after year Banana Pass continues to be a powerful platform for capturing the imagination of the nation by getting Aussies moving with the natural energy of bananas. Through Measured Magic we have doubled its potential moving from individual to shared motivation.”

The Banana Gym Pass platform blends earned, paid, social and creative disciplines through Thinkerbell’s alchemy model. The integrated work rolls out across OOH, Online Video, Radio, paid and owned socials and influencer content.
