Glass ceiling-breaking mentorship program, Assisterhood, is back for its fourth consecutive year in 2021. What started as an initiative to address gender imbalance in the communications industry, has now become a thriving community built on each others’ success.

Assisterhood 2021 recently launched with a successful panel and speed mentoring event, held at max capacity at Publicis Worldwide. Here, Assisterhood introduced a number of new mentors and gave potential mentees valuable face time with what could be their perfect mentoring match.

On offer this year are coveted mentorships with some of Queensland’s most experienced leaders. The 2021 program boasts 22 talented mentors (see full list below) across creative, strategy, marketing, production, media, and digital backgrounds, set to help mentees navigate their careers.

“The program has reached a stage of high demand with always more mentees applying than mentors available, and so our plan is to continue to meet that demand by growing its reach and impact on careers and lives. The next phase for us is identifying corporate partners who want to support this growth.” Simone Waugh, Publicis Worldwide managing director and foundation sponsor of Assisterhood.

And for the first time since its inception in 2018, Assisterhood is encouraging everyone to apply – regardless of gender.

“We want to make sure we are now inclusive of everyone who wants to learn to lead by celebrating and embracing difference, and help create a more equitable world.” Polina Shilenina, Assisterhood co-organiser.

Successful applicants will grow their confidence and careers through one-on-one mentoring at their own pace, while anyone can join the Assisterhood community on Facebook and Instagram.

“Assisterhood is all about casting a net and bringing as many people up with us as we can. As we continue to grow, so does our community of support for mentors and the next generation’s leaders.” Linh Diep, Assisterhood co-founder.

For those wishing to apply, visit www.assisterhood.com.au

Applications close midnight Thursday 29 April.
