Aleksandr & Sergei Return In Weather Forecast-Focused Campaign

Australia’s favourite meerkats, Aleksandr and Sergei, are back to put a cheeky spin on your daily weather forecast, with some help from the insurance experts at Compare the Market.

Rain, hail or shine, shoppers can now enjoy a live weather check from some the world’s furriest meteorologists thanks to the comparison brand’s new dynamic billboards popping up in malls across in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide.

The smart displays draw on real-time weather data to deliver comparison forecasts based on what’s happening outside.

The creative extension builds on the company’s ‘Wake Up Australia’ campaign where veteran TV journalist David Koch shines a light on some of the biggest pressure points affecting household budgets, alongside our roving meerkat correspondents.

General manager for brand at Compare the Market Michael Goodhew said the campaign is a timely reminder for Australians to seek better value insurance ahead of the impending storm and bushfire season.

“While Aleksandr and Sergei help to brighten our days, we know a real storm is brewing in our household budgets,” Goodhew said.

“When you live in a country that’s paradise one day, chaos the next, having home and contents cover isn’t just smart, it’s essential – especially with summer storm looming and wetter-than-usual conditions forecast for parts of the country this year.

“Now prices are on the rise, it’s worth sniffing out a better deal. Our latest Household Budget Barometer report shows quotes for a typical four-bedroom home have jumped nearly 23 per cent—a big hit to the wallet.

“But that doesn’t mean there aren’t savings to be had. Quotes for home and contents cover at one Brisbane address varied as much as $2,857. More proof it pays to compare!”
