For its annual Arts issue, The Australian Financial Review Magazine has published not one but three different covers, featuring comedians Em Rusciano, Rove McManus and Craig Reucassel, each backed by a four-page gatefold for BMW’s 5 series.
Readers who buy The Australian Financial Review newspaper today – Friday, February 24 – will find the inserted magazine with one of these three special covers on it.
“The special treatment is a way to highlight a cover story about how today’s crop of comedians are turning crazy capers into canny careers, helped along by a combination of fragmenting distribution channels, globalisation and social media,” AFR Magazine editor Katrina Strickland said.
“In today’s marketplace, anything that helps you stand out is a plus. We thought the annual Arts issue the perfect place in which to try something a bit out of the box.”
Director of commercial for Fairfax Media’s Prestige Group, Nerissa Corbett, added: “We are thrilled to have BMW 5 series running a four-page gatefold off the cover of this special Arts issue. This is the third year we have run this edition and support continues to grow with our biggest issue to date. The Arts issue for AFR Magazine is leading the way, as is the all new BMW 5 Series, a leader in innovation and technology.”
Introduced three years ago, AFR Magazine‘s Arts issue has grown to a record 84 pages in 2017. AFR Magazine is inserted monthly into The Australian Financial Review newspaper. The 22-year-old AFR Magazine has been voted newspaper inserted magazine of the year for the past four years in a row at the Australian Magazine Awards.
