ABC Cheekily Parodies Controversial Sunrise Segment (Again) With Aboriginals

The ABC has cheekily mocked a recent segment on Seven’s breakfast show last week which drew widespread backlash online and via a protest outside its Sydney studios.

Activists mobbed the studios last week in protest of a Sunrise segment hosted by Samantha Armytage about a push by the federal government to change adoption policies for indigenous kids.

Protesters were equipped with signs and chanting in disgust, forcing Sunrise producers to lower the blinds on the studios’ windows and running stock footage of Martin Place to block the protest from viewers.

ABC telly host Tom Ballard and The Betoota Advocate mocked the segment with their own versions.

Now, the ABC has taken a step further in its mockery of Sunrise, with its Black Comedy show creating a parody version featuring Indigenous actors as the host and panellists, with one of them calling whites people “c*$#s”.

Unlike the original Sunrise segment, the reaction to the ABC’s latest one was mainly positive.
