New programs struggled under the weight of reality stars The X Factor and Australia’s Got Talent last night with Nine’s Power Games and Ten’s The Bachelor not breaking the million barrier.
Part one of Nine’s special Power Games: The Packer Murdoch Story pulled in 793,000 viewers on Sunday night at 8.30pm, according to OzTam’s preliminary metro ratings.
The program lost to Seven’s Sunday Night which won 1.081 million viewers following The X Factor which had an audience of 1.556 million. Australia’s Got Talent was watched by 1.113 million viewers.
Ten’s The Bachelor Australia sat in 11th place with a total audience of 669,000. At 7.30pm the search for love lost to the tail’s end of The X Factor, Nine’s 60 Minutes (1.072 million)and the ABC’s Grand Designs (722,000).
In Melbourne and Sydney The Bachelor was number one in its 7.30pm timeslot amongst women 16 to 39, according to Ten, and was number two in its timeslot amongst 18 to 49s in all five metro markets.
Ten’s share was lifted by the reality program, taking a combined 16.2% share of all free-to-air viewers.
Seven won the lion’s share of Sunday’s television viewers, winning a 35.4% share of all viewers across its multiple channels.
Seven’s broadcast of the AFL Finals boosted the network, coming ninth the afternoon broadcast won an audience of 769,000 viewers in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.
Nine took a 28.7% share of all viewers and the ABC won 15.2%.
SBS took 4.5%.
