The Bachelor drops, ABC rises

The Bachelor Australia sunk on its second outing, sliding to 19th most watched show last night from 11th place on the previous night.

Up against Nine’s Big Brother, Seven’s The X Factor and the ABC’s 7.30 and Australian Story, the program pulled in just 622,000 viewers.

The Bachelor’s result is down on its debut, which pulled in 669,000 viewers to Ten on Sunday night, according to OzTam’s preliminary metro results.

With only three shows in the top 20 – The Project (644,000), Ten News at Five (587,000) and The Bachelor – the network took a combined 17.1% share of all free-to-air Monday night television viewers.

In share terms the network came fourth, sitting behind the ABC's 22.1% which had a strong night with three programs above one million. 7.30 came sixth with 1.033 million viewers, ABC News Update had 1.02 million viewers, ABC News pulled in 1.012 million and Australian Story was watched by 999,000 people. Four Corners, Media Watch and Q&A were also within the top 15.

Big Brother pulled in 851,000 viewers, coming in behind ABC News, 7.30, Australian Story and Seven’s The X Factor.

The X Factor live results wooed 1.317 million viewers but didn’t take the top spot instead coming second to Nine News on 1.36 million.

Seven won the night overall with a 29.3% share of all viewers across its network. Nine took 26.7% and SBS won 4.8%.
