Seven’s Sunrise team off to Hamilton Island to get hitched

Channel Seven’s Sunrise breakfast program will broadcast live from Hamilton Island on Friday morning, where it will host a live TV wedding.

The show, presented by David Koch and new co-host Samantha Armytage (pictured) – who replaced veteran presenter Mel Doyle in June – will be aired live from the Island with the full Sunrise team on location.

Sunrise and Hamilton Island ran a competition offering viewers the opportunity to win an all expenses paid wedding on the Island, valued at $50,000. The viewers had to submit a 60 second video on why they would like to get married on the island.

Following a huge response, one lucky couple from Tasmania will now exchange vows in front of friends, family and thousands of Sunrise viewers.

Hamilton Island’s general manager of marketing, Denny-Lyn Dixon, said: “We host over 500 weddings a year and have countless honeymooners from all around the world stay with us.  We are delighted to partner with Sunrise on this unique opportunity.”

Also performing live on the show, which starts at 6am, will be US pop duo MKTO, performing their ARIA top 10 hits ‘Thank You’ and ‘Classic’.

Here's the couple's winning spot (which clocks in slightly over 60 seconds!)
