Nine’s hour long news bulletin helped the network take the top post in the ratings last night, winning a total combined 27% share of all free-to-air viewers.
The victory was a narrow one, with Seven hot on its rivals heels with a total 26% share, according to OzTam’s overnight metro ratings.
Nine’s primary channel won a 20.3% share ahead of Seven’s 18.9%.
The second half of Nine’s extended bulletin pulled in 1.089 million viewers with 1.041 million tuning in at 6.30pm.
Seven News won 1.064 million but Today Tonight beat Nine’s A Current Affair (ACA) with 928,000 viewers compared to ACA’s 790,000.
Seven also had the most watched entertainment program with Dynamo: Magician Impossible sitting in sixth place with 835,000 viewers.
Ten’s most watched program was Ten Eyewitness News, in 15th place overall it pulled in 611,000 viewers.
Ten sat on a total combined 19.5% share with 13.3% of that going to the network’s main channel.
The result put the commercial channel just behind the ABC which won a total 20.9% share with 15.2% for ABC1.
SBS brought up the rear with a total 6.6% share. SBS One won 5.1%.
