Nine's Love Child wins 1.354 million viewers

The competition between Seven and Nine heated up last night with the debut of Nine’s Love Child watched by 1.354 million viewers.

The new drama pushed Revenge down to 862,000 viewers and 11th place, it made its 2014 debut to 1.186 million people in early February.

Nine only came second in prime time last night to My Kitchen Rules (1.925 million) when The Block: Fans v Faves pulled in 1.198 million viewers.

Nine News won with 1.162 million tuning in and 1.134 million watching Nine News at 6.30 compared to the 1.121 million viewers who watched Seven News and the 1.117 million people who chose to watch Seven News/Today Tonight.

The contest was tight but Seven narrowly beat Nine winning a combined 30.5% share of all free-to-air viewers compared to Nine’s total 30.4%.

Seven’s primary channel sat on 24.9% while Nine won 24.7%.

Ten’s total share was 18.2% with 9% for its main channel and 6.4% for ONE. Ten’s Olympic ratings were hit last night by the fog-delayed and later postponed men’s snowboard cross final.

The ABC sat on a combined 17.6% with 13.1% going to ABC1.

SBS was in last place on a total share of 3.4% with 2.9% going to SBS ONE.
