After almost two decades off-air Ten has revived the news brand it introduced in the 1970s and rebadged Ten News at Five to Ten Eyewitness News.

For the first time in years OzTam’s preliminary overnight metro ratings today carry the Ten Eyewitness News in place of the familiar Ten News at Five.

The rebranded program was Ten’s most watched show, sitting in 18th place with 675,000 viewers it was the most watched program at 5pm.

At 5.30 pm though Seven’s new Million Dollar Minute pulled in a much larger audience than the news program which runs to six.

Million Dollar Minute, which brings back former Sunrise weather man Grant Denyer to the screen, sat in 13th place with an audience of 811,000 viewers.

Seven again won the night, taking a combined 30.9% share of all free-to-air viewers and 23.1% for its main channel, thanks to the strength of The X Factor (1.4 million).

Seven News (1.419 million) was the most watched program of the night, beating Nine News on 1.331 million viewers.

Nine won the 6.30 to 7pm slot with A Current Affair (1.166 million) but then lost 7pm to 8.30 to Seven with Big Brother watched by 999,000 behind Home and Away’s 1.047 million viewers.

Seven’s Mr Selfridge pulled in 834,000 viewers while The Amazing 80s won Nine an additional 809,000 eyeballs.

Nine took a total 27.6% share of all viewers, the network’s main channel took 20.6%.

The ABC had a strong night with a total 21.4% share of all FTA viewers ahead of Ten’s 15.4%.

SBS took 4.8%.
