Foxtel gears up for 2014 with new shows and iQ3

Foxtel has unveiled big plans for 2014, with new shows, the return of some of this year’s favourites and the launch of iQ3.

The subscription television broadcaster held its upfronts for 2014 at the Sydney Entertainment Centre last night.

New to Foxtel will include reality series The Real Housewives of Melbourne (pictured), and among the biggest shows for next year are Rake, A Donna Hay Christmas, Matt Moran’s Paddock to Plate, The Face Down Under and Celebrity Come Dine With Me Australia.

Reality series Australia’s Next Top Model will return for its ninth season and international series including Game of Thrones, VEEP, House of Cards and Pretty Little Liars will air.

Foxtel also vowed to continue investing in Aussie drama, bringing Wentworth back for a second season.

Foxtel’s iQ3 will also launch next year. The third generation personal recorder will combine internet entertainment and a new program guide that allows viewers browse backwards in time by up to 26 hours.

Customers will receive the new backwards browsing enhancement automatically via their set top unit, and it will be available in the next month.

Richard Freudenstein, Foxtel CEO, said: “This exciting new feature will dramatically increase the amount of content available to our customers so they don’t miss out on the shows they love.

“The iQ3 will be a quantum leap forward from our previous set top boxes. Using wifi technology it will offer significantly more opportunities for internet delivery and a vastly improved TV guide that has been streamlined to help customers discover the best programming for them.”
