The unveiling of the new website for Florey Neuroscience Institutes (FNI) this week, undertaken by Melbourne digital agency Evolution 7, marks an exciting day for the research community in Australia.
With more than one in seven Australians experiencing a major brain disorder every year, neuroscience research has gained considerable momentum and FNI is leading the charge. The website launch represents the final stage of a major rebranding effort of the Florey Group, an amalgamation of three organisations – the Brain Research Institute, the National Stroke Research Institute and the Howard Florey Institute.
A key challenge of the website redevelopment was the complexity of representing the three distinct organisations as one cohesive entity and optimising the website as a multi audience marketing tool. Evolution 7’s solution was to create a centralised online hub with different paths for researchers, students and donors embedded in the information architecture. The focus is on dynamic user experience – interested lay people are easily able to navigate through research laboratories, view lectures and download publications, whilst a more in-depth view of FNI’s cutting-edge projects is delivered to a peer audience.
The vibrant new design seamlessly integrates FNI’s key messages and values with stunning visual elements to reflect an excitement for science and breakthrough research. Authoritative content is the focus with bold typography and an elegant use of colour and space prompting the user to explore and engage. The sliding campaign panel on the homepage dynamically aggregates content into a stream, keeping the site active and current and maximising feature space.
Built to support FNI’s growth and showcase scientific advancements, site managers have complete control with a powerful content management system driven by Evolution 7’s customised Evolve™ architecture.
Evolution 7 Managing Director, Mack Nevill said, "We're thrilled to be working with FNI at this exciting time and the team really thrived on the challenge of delivering this project, tackling a sophisticated information architecture and a large amount of content and resources. User experience was our primary focus and the site delivers on that promise with an elegant and engaging design. FNI really does some groundbreaking and incredible work and we're proud to have the opportunity to work with them on this and future projects.”
FNI Marketing and Communications Manager, Robert Hilkes said, “Our new website represents the final step in a major rebrand exercise for the group. Developing a product with so much information, that operates logically and seamlessly was going to be quite a challenge and that is something we have achieved with Evolution 7. I believe the web is the best single communications tool that we have to engage with our scientific, student and lay audiences and the website delivers on all fronts.”
