The Australian Crime Commission’s controversial report into doping across Australian sport hasn’t deterred loyal long-time AFL sponsor, Carlton Draught which has come out with a major new football-focussed campaign.
The beer brand today launched the largest AFL promotion in its history called ‘Footy Rules’.
Punters who buy Carlton Draught are in with a chance to win one of thousands of AFL style prizes, including footy style dartboards, footy shaped speakers and even a ‘footy table’.
Wondering what the latter is? It’s like foosball, but with proper footy. Not soccer.
To accompany the promotion, the brand has launched a new Carlton Draught TVC called ‘Footy’s back’.
Created by Clemenger BBDO Melbourne, the TVC reminds consumers about Carlton Draught’s long and proud history of sponsorship with the AFL. “It's always enjoyable to make an ad for Carlton Draught, especially when it involves football, darts and cheap footy nick nacks”, said Clemenger creative, Richard Williams.
To launch the campaign, the brand is rounding up a few football legends for a footy table game at the MCG. Ex-AFL players Daniel Harford, Cameron Mooney and Scott Lucas will pit their skills against five Carlton Draught Facebook fans this Friday, February 22.
The Carlton Draught ‘Footy Rules’ promotion will run from February 18 until April 14.
