More than 3.6 million Australians watched Hawthorn defeat Fremantle in Saturday’s Grand Final clash winning Seven a whopping 80.1% share of all free-to-air viewers during the broadcast.
Across Australia, including metro and regional markets, 3.631 million people tuned into the 2013 AFL Grand Final with 2.717 coming from the five metro markets.
In Perth, near where the Fremantle Dockers originate, 503,000 people tuned in. In Melbourne there were more than two and half times the number of TVs turned to the match with 1.279 million viewers in Melbourne alone.
The AFL Grand Final Presentations was watched by 2.467 million people in the metro markets, according to OzTam’s preliminary ratings, with 1.967 million watching Seven’s On the Ground coverage.
The post match broadcast kept 1.726 million people engaged and the pre-match entertainment courted 1.447 million viewers.
Meanwhile, over on Nine the Rugby League final series – which was shown only in the Sydney and Brisbane metro markets – was watched by 1.004 million people.
