Online travel agency Booking.com has appointed 72andSunny as its global creative agency of record following a competitive review.
The review, which was handled by the pitch consultancy MediaSense, saw 72andSunny Amsterdam up against AMV BBDO in the final round.
The incumbent, Aulu Alpha Kilo, chose not to defend the account.
Booking.com, which started in the Netherlands in 1996, now operates in 45 languages and has more than 35 million accommodation listings worldwide.
72andSunny has been tasked with creating a new brand platform that can work globally and support Booking.com’s growth.
“Booking.com plays an incredible role in helping people experience more of the world, and we’re excited to partner with them to bring our creativity, energy and ambition to that opportunity,” 72andSunny Amsterdam managing director Hollie Loxley said.
“The best work comes from aiming high, staying curious and having the courage to do things differently.”
The agency 72andSunny has offices in Amsterdam, Sydney, Los Angeles, New York, Singapore, Sydney and Toronto.
It works with clients including Heineken, Turkish Airlines, Indeed, Midnite, Foot Locker, Zurich Insurance and E.L.F. Beauty.
72andSunny International chief executive Chris Kay described the Booking.com win as “pretty special”.
In a LinkedIn post, he added: “This felt good not just because our new friends trusted us with this opportunity to create category defining work together (massive thanks again), but it really captured how far 72andSunny Amsterdam has come on its own journey.”
