10’s reality TV show I’m A Celeb … Get Me Out Of Here! debuted to 980,000 viewers, according to OzTAM overnight metro numbers.

Launching last night on 5 Jan 2020, a week earlier than its launch in 2019, I’m A Celeb split its debut across two shows: I’m A Celeb…Get Me Out Of Here! – Welcome To The Jungle (873,000) and I’m A Celeb…Get Me Out Of Here! – Opening Night (980,000).

Opening Night had a 40.9 per cent commercial share while Welcome to the Jungle had a 35 per cent share.

First to enter the jungle was celebrity chef Miguel Maestre, followed by Myf Warhurst and chippy Tom Williams.

Reality television star Charlotte Crosby was next to arrive, followed by reality star Ryan Gallagher. A defeated Charlotte became the first celebrity to mutter those infamous words “I’m a celebrity…get me out of here!”

Rhonda Burchmore entered next, followed by comedian Nikki Osborne. Erin Barnett rocked up next, and Tanya Hennessy arrived shortly after, followed by Dilruk Jayasinha.

Network 10’s chief content officer Beverley McGarvey said:“We are delighted with the brilliant audience numbers for the first episode of the new season of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!. It has clearly struck a chord with viewers and proven – once again – that people are looking for a fun and engaging alternative. We look forward to revealing more campmates tonight and four more weeks of jungle fun and surprises.

I’m A Celeb represents an excellent start to our strategy of giving viewers differentiated flagship content 50 weeks of the year.
