Australia’s Kangaroos survived a serious scare from Fiji on Sunday night, but their 36-22 Rugby League World Cup victory was enough to secure Seven the top spot in the TV ratings, with a Total TV National Reach of 3,020,000 and an average audience of 1,513,000.

In front of more than 41,000 fans at Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium, the Kangaroos were pushed to their limits by a determined Fiji side, with the lead changing hands four times. Tom Trbojevic’s second-half hat-trick helped Australia regain control and secure victory, despite a three-try performance from Fiji’s Semi Valemei.

Nine’s The Block followed with a total reach of 2,457,000 and an average audience of 1,445,000.

The renovation competition reached its final garden and front yard reveals, with Rick and Tayla taking out the win and securing a $50,000 reduction on their auction reserve.

Over on Seven, Supercars Championship Gold Coast 500 brought plenty of drama to the streets of Surfers Paradise. Broc Feeney claimed victory in Sunday’s race, while Anton De Pasquale narrowly held on to his place in the finals following an early collision. The race recorded a total reach of 866,000 and an average audience of 461,000.

Over on ABC, Recipe of the Year served up a total reach of 932,000 and an average audience of 522,000. Hosted by Adam Liaw and Pia Miranda, Sunday’s episode saw home cooks celebrate recipes made for bringing people together, from backyard gatherings to milestone birthdays.

Australia’s Jillaroos delivered a 78-0 demolition of England in Saturday night’s Rugby League World Cup clash in Perth, running in 15 unanswered tries despite losing Julia Robinson to a broken wrist, with Seven’s coverage topping the ratings with a Total TV National Reach of 1,841,000 and an average audience of 611,000.

Over on ABC, Beyond Paradise followed DI Humphrey Goodman as he investigated a local chocolatier suspected of poisoning three customers, leaving him to determine whether she was responsible or had been framed. The British crime drama recorded a total reach of 1,028,000 and an average audience of 656,000.

Tonga delivered a 36-0 victory over Lebanon in Friday night’s Rugby League World Cup clash at CommBank Stadium. Seven’s coverage topped the ratings with a Total TV National Reach of 2,396,000 and an average audience of 881,000.

Nine’s Tipping Point Australia followed closely with a total reach of 1,264,000 and an average audience of 697,000.
