First it was UberIceCream, then UberPuppies and now UberSeniors. Ride-sharing app Uber has partnered with Seniors Cards NSW to raise awareness among hundreds of thousands of senior citizen members of the opportunity to earn a flexible income as an Uber driver and access safe, reliable and affordable transport in NSW at the touch of a button.

The NSW Seniors Card has over 1.4 million members and over 3,500 participating businesses.

Uber hopes to educate the over 1.4 million Seniors Card members on using technology-enabled ridesharing to access economic opportunities and enhanced mobility, via a number of information sessions to be hosted throughout the year.

The Hon. John Ajaka, Minister of Ageing and Disability Services said: “We know that seniors in NSW are incredibly active with many relying on public  transport to help them get around. That’s why I’m delighted to announce this alliance today.

“It will provide an affordable and reliable transport option, as well as raising awareness of the opportunity for them to become driver partners with Uber and re-enter the workforce on a schedule that suits them.

David Rohrsheim, Uber general manager, Australia and New Zealand said: “We’re proud to be working alongside Seniors Card NSW to extend the economic opportunities provided by ridesharing to hundreds of thousands of its members, and offer seniors citizens a new way to get from A to B, meet people and socialise in the community. For many of our existing senior citizen partners, driving with the Uber platform is a safe and accessible way to top up their pension and help pay the bills.”
