Emotions ran high on Nine’s The Block on Wednesday night, as surprise family reunions brought the exhausted contestants to tears.
Budgets, building deadlines and the usual Block stress were temporarily put aside when host Scott Cam blindsided the contestants with surprise visits from their loved ones ahead of an athletics carnival challenge.
After weeks of intense isolation, high-pressure building and minimal sleep, the arrival of partners, children and parents proved an emotional moment for the Blockheads, with tears flowing as contestants were reunited with their closest support systems.
The emotional scenes helped The Block reach a total TV national reach of 1.729 million viewers, with an average audience of 1.006 million and a further 247,000 viewers tuning in via BVOD.
The episode ranked fourth overall for the night, just behind Seven’s My Kitchen Rules, which recorded a total TV reach of 1.732 million and an average audience of 1.011 million.
Over on Seven, Home and Away also pulled in strong numbers, reaching 1.430 million viewers with an average audience of 963,000, while A Taste For Murder reached 992,000 viewers.
Meanwhile, The Celebrity Traitors UK was the standout entertainment offering for 10, reaching 630,000 viewers with an average audience of 241,000.
Nine’s Tipping Point Australia also reached 1.350 million viewers, while Chefs Ahoy recorded a reach of 1.063 million.
