Host Sophie Monk has sent the first contestant of Love Island season 8 packing.
After only four episodes of the new season, Islander Jarrar has been sent home from the Fiji villa. This drama did the numbers for Nine with last night’s program pulling in a total TV national reach of 1.2 million people and an average audience of 465,000.
Love Island, which typically does well on 9Now, also drew in a BVOD average audience of 311,000—which was the best of the evening.
Jarrar’s fate was decided by Amanda, who had the decision to couple up with either Jarrar or Oli, with the single Islander being sent home. This was quite the plot twist, as Amanda was the only person in the villa to not be in a couple. This was before two new male bombshells walked in to steal Jarrar and Oli’s other halves.
Last night’s episode was the first time viewers saw the Love Island Power Couples come into play.
First up was 2025 winners Yana and Kye who told Amanda she won’t be dumped, rather she would be doing the dumping after she picked one of the two remaining boys.
Season 8 continues next week on Monday.
Nine won the entertainment stakes last night through Tipping Point. The hit game show hosted by Todd Woodbridge secured a reach of 1.2 million and an average audience of 678,00.
Over on Seven, its long standing Home And Away reached 1.2 million people and raked in a average audience of 866,000.
And Network 10’s highest rated program was Big Brother. The episode which is part of the new season that kicked off this week reached 832 viewers and had a reach of 395,000.
