With MAFs taking its scheduled night off, Milano Cortina dominated the TV ratings overnight bringing in a total TV national reach of 2,282,000 with a total TV national average audience of 832,000.
In Nine’s coverage, Alysa Liu, the American figure skating teen who “retired” at 16 after Beijing 2022, has become the first U.S. woman in 24 years to win Olympic gold in the singles figure skating.
Liu trailed Japan’s Kaori Sakamoto and Ami Nakai but stormed the free skate, scoring a whopping 226.79, leaping into first.
Seventeen year old Nakai burst into tears at her bronze with Sakamoto adding silver to ger team’s medal haul.
Over on the halfpipe, Canadian contender Cassie Sharpe crashed hard in her second qualifying run, resulting in her being stretched off by medics. Luckily her first run secured her position in the finals.
Meanwhile, 16-year-old Australian Indra Brown held her own, qualifying fourth, pushing her into the finals. Eileen Gu, the most decorated female free skier of all time came through at fifth.
Over on Channel Seven, Home and Away snagged eleventh place to rake in a reach of 1,166,000 and an average audience of 868,000 in its 38th year of the show. A second episode managed to follow closely behind in thirteenth with a reach of 932,000 and an average of 780,000.
Network 10’s, Gogglebox managed to sneak into the top 20 at 17th with a reach of 891,000 and an average audience of 539,000. Who knew so many people liked watching other people watch TV.
