Transport of London will begin removing Protein World’s “are you beach ready?” campaign from tomorrow. But it isn’t the twitter backlash and mass vandalism that has caused the ads to be removed.
The Transport for London (TFL) has confirmed that these ads will be removed because Protein World’s three week contract has come to an end.
As reported by B&T yesterday, the ads have caused wide spread criticism for promoting body shaming and sexism. UK Advertising Standards Authority has received over 200 complaints about the ad.
A spokesperson for TFL, told the Guardian UK: “This advertisement will begin to be removed from our network as scheduled from tomorrow. We have received one complaint about it and we will be guided by the Committee of Advertising Practice and Advertising Standards Authority if a similar advert were to be submitted again.”
A spokesperson from Protein World is yet to comment on the ads removal. However Protein World have continued their snarky Twitter responses to protestors.

Pleased the protestors only have 140 characters per tweet, could be reading for days! Doesn't stop the chapters though 😴 1/5 #GrowUpHarriet

The taking back the beach protest is still scheduled to go ahead in London’s Hyde Park on Saturday.
