Ooyala has recruited Site Tour’s Vicki Lyon as its new director to oversee ad-tech business growth throughout the Asia-Pacific and Japan region.
The company, which is Telstra’s premium video publishing, analytics and monetisation subsidiary, announced the appointment this week saying Lyon will help premium content providers tap into new and innovative ways to increase revenue with video advertising.
Her ad tech market knowledge and expertise will be instrumental in building demand for Ooyala ad-tech products, including its ad server product, Ooyala Pulse, and its anti-ad blocking solution, Ooyala Unlock.
Prior to joining Ooyala, Lyon was the chief commercial officer for Site Tour, where she helped bridge the gap between programmatic buying and outdoor advertising in Australia.
Lyon’s career also included a role as the vice president of ad-tech solutions for Telstra, as well as the managing director for SpotX in Australia, responsible for establishing and growing the company’s Asia-Pacific and Japan operations.
Lyon will leverage her extensive industry experience to develop new business with targeted premium publishers, broadcasters, programmers and networks, in a video advertising market that PwC has forecast to triple from $176 million in 2015 to $608 million by 2019.
Commenting the appointment, Ooyala senior vice president for ad tech, Sorosh Tavakoli, said Lyon’s 20 years’ experience in the ad tech space will support Ooyala in driving demand for its fastest growing products.
Headquartered in Silicon Valley, Ooyala counts hundreds of broadcasters and media companies as clients including ESPN, Univision, Sky Sports, Foxtel and NBCUniversal, for its solutions that combine delivery of content and ads in one stack.
