New Country Manager Takes The Helm At PubMatic

PubMatic, the marketing automation software company for publishers, announced that Peter Barry has joined the company as country manager for Australia and New Zealand.

Barry is responsible for developing new premium publisher relationships for the company with a particular focus on growing mobile and video inventory.

In addition, Barry is tasked with increasing spend with key agency trading desks and Demand Side Platforms (DSPs). Barry will be based in Sydney and report in to Jason Barnes, vice president of Asia Pacific at PubMatic.

Prior to joining PubMatic Barry spent more than three years at Ad2One, first heading up their operations in Ireland before becoming the commercial director in Australia, where he led monetisation across display, video, and programmatic, as well as the company’s publisher acquisition strategy. Beforehand, he spent six years with Trinity Mirror Group overseeing the monetization of their online portfolio.

The programmatic market opportunity in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region is significant. MAGNA GLOBAL predicts that programmatic spend in APAC will grow 250 per cent by 2019, which equates to a 37 per cent annual growth rate, compared to the rest of the world’s 27 per cent.

In addition, PubMatic’s recent Q4 2015 Quarterly Mobile Index (QMI) found that the APAC region saw a 524 per cent increase year-over-year in monetized mobile impression volume in Q4 2015, representing the fastest–growing global opportunity.

“We are delighted that Peter has joined PubMatic to drive our business in Australia and New Zealand,” said Barnes.

“The maturity of the programmatic market in the two countries demanded a seasoned leader with extensive expertise in digital publisher monetization. We are confident that Barry is the right leader to help premium publishers make the most of the market opportunity, and will be an immediate asset to the Asia Pacific region.”

Commenting on his appointment Barry said, “I feel honoured to be joining a company that has been at the forefront of global programmatic growth for almost a decade. I am looking forward to leading such a well-respected team and working with them to bring PubMatic’s One Platform Solution to premium publishers in order to help them optimize monetisation strategies across their digital assets.”
