Macquarie Radio Network’s (MRN) content creation team, in conjunction with Colonial First State, has launched an innovative content initiative featuring journalist Ray Martin as host.

The program is called “The Road Next Travelled” and runs over eight weeks on MRN’s websites including 2GB, 2UE, 3AW, 4BC and 6PR. It follows three listener contestants who start a journey towards the next phase of their lives, retirement and beyond. The first episode sees Ray Martin discuss his own road next travelled, a passion for photography.

The aim is to inspire both the contestants and MRN’s listeners through the help of renowned lifestyle coach Joanna Maxwell and mentors Guy LeechJudy Tanner from The Smith Family and corporate well-being specialist Judith Bowtell.

The series was created by MRN’s content creation team, in conjunction with Ikon Communications and FremantleMedia Australia’s Spring branded content division.

MRN content creation director Andrew Sidwell said: “’The Road Next Travelled’ feeds the needs of our 40-plus audience for content that improves their lives. Working with smart content marketers like Colonial First State and agency partner Ikon Communications, we’ve been able to create a program that challenges and inspires our audience to think about being ready for the next part of their lives. Ray Martin’s involvement is a real coup as he is passionate about the topic and has helped us shape the series along the way.”

Colonial First State executive general manager Linda Elkins said: “Colonial First State wants to help more Australians to re-imagine their retirement – to think differently about their future, in a positive and constructive way that leaves them inspired, empowered and excited to get expert advice to help them get there.”
