Interbrand Worldwide is pleased to announce the appointment of Kieren Cooney to one of the Group’s most coveted roles, CEO, Interbrand Australia.
Interbrand and DDB Group Australia and New Zealand Chairman, Marty O’Halloran commented, “Mid last year Kieren joined DDB as our group managing director in Sydney. During this time his people leadership, business acumen and customer focus have been invaluable to all levels of the business. As a transformational leader, he has made a huge impact not least within our Telstra business. Very quickly we realised who would be best suited to take Interbrand to the next level in Australia.
“With 20 years experience working at the forefront of some of the region’s most dynamic organisations as a highly successful business leader, Kieren is the perfect fit for Interbrand. He is a formidable leader and his experience and passion for brand, strategy and innovation will unquestionably lead Interbrand into a period of renewed growth. Kieren will play a key role in the broader DDB Group Executive leadership team and continue to lead the Telstra business,” O’Halloran added.
Prior to joining DDB Group last year, Cooney held senior executive positions at Telecom New Zealand, Leading Edge, Vodafone and NBN Co.
Cooney commented, “Interbrand has a deservedly impressive reputation across the globe as the world’s leading strategic brand consultancy with some of the most innovative work being led out of Australia. I’m very excited to be joining Interbrand at a moment in time when what we do has never been more relevant or valuable.
“Technology has changed the way we live and work. In order to stay relevant and competitive businesses need to keep in lockstep with their customers’ lives. Clearly this isn’t news in itself – every successful business we partner has some form of significant transformation initiative or strategy happening right now.
“However, organisations that are setting the standard are doing things differently. They recognise their success will not come from transforming themselves around technology or processes – but rather from pivoting their transformation around the changing needs of today’s customers, and using technology and process as tools to bring these changes to life. This is at the heart of what Interbrand does better than anyone else – partnering organisations to transform their businesses and brands around today’s customers’ changing world,” Cooney concluded.
Jez Frampton, global CEO Interbrand adds, “I am delighted to have someone of Kieren’s calibre leading one of our most prestigious offices. Interbrand Australia has always been at the forefront of the brand experience evolution and it continues to produce work that not only breaks boundaries in Australia but on the Global stage. Kieren is perfect to take this to the next level and I look forward to working with him on the next phase of Interband Australia.”
Cooney will commence his new role effective immediately.
