The Volvo Penta display by Expocentric at the 2014 Sydney International Boat Show marked the introduction of a compelling new technology to the Australian exhibition industry.
Collecting the ‘Display of Excellence Award’ for Volvo Penta at the Sydney International Boat Show, Expocentric produced a display that showcased the range of Volvo Penta engines in intimate detail via an integrated 3D holographic projection.
This is the first time this technology has been used in an Australian trade show and puts Expocentric at the pinnacle of interactive design and implementation in the Australasian market.
With a brief to differentiate the Volvo Penta brand from its competitors, Expocentric created a unique display that showcased the Volvo Penta products at the Cockle Bay Marina in Darling Harbour on a floating pontoon. This necessitated a lightweight solution that precluded the display of the physical engines due to their weight.
The highly space efficient solution was a custom inflatable structure containing a 40” 3D hologram display that presented the engine range in intricate detail with navigation of the 3D holographic models via an iPad. This allowed the visitors to explore the engines in a level of detail that physical models would never allow.
Dominic Genua, marketing and events manager Boating Industry Association of NSW, said: “Our awards are given to those organisations whose exhibits stand out above the rest. Volvo’s display certainly did that. Their exhibit presented their brand… in the best possible way… achieving a Display of Excellence Award.”
