Jim Groves, managing director Carat Perth, announced today the launch of the inaugural WA dentsu intern program in partnership with the University of Western Australia.
The UWA dentsu Placement Program caters for UWA Marketing Department students. The program is about establishing a series of work experiences in a media and communications network business, that allows undergraduate and postgraduate marketing students the opportunity to experience the theory and best practice that drives media, creative services and platform and technology pillars in a marketing services organisation.
Dentsu WA interns: Peter Matthews, Lauren Overton, Mae Wright Dolan, Geoffrey Langton
The program was designed and run by Client Managers Geoff Langton and Lauren Overton who, working with dentsu specialists at Carat Perth, media partners, Seven West Media, Australian Radio Network, oOh! Media, Media Tonic, SBS, Val Morgan and MIQ, curated a multi-discipline and immersive program.
Daniel Schepis, senior lecturer, UWA Business School, said about the program: “We’re focused on providing career ready learning in core humanities and commerce programs, and our dentsu intern program allows our students to broaden the learning and skills application base for our students through participative experiences in a live environment.”
After running a competitive entrance program for the opportunity to take two places offered in the initial program, Mae Wright Dolan and Peter Mathews were both offered places on the program. Mae commented: “To have the opportunity to practice my academic knowledge in a business environment and to be able to hear from senior industry partners quickly expedites my learning levels within marketing.”
The dentsu intern program is a key step in re-establishing entry level opportunities in the workplace for emerging talent, with the aim of launching a graduate entry level program in WA market for 2022.
