How do we define ourselves? What are we passionate about? What are we proud of? What do we share with the world around us? These are just some of the questions raised in the latest installment of Canon Australia’s The Lab series, which aims to shift creative thinking behind the lens.
In the seventh experiment titled Reflect, Canon asked three portrait photographers to record interview questions for an unknown subject.
Having asked their ‘subjects’ a range of questions that require them to dig deep within themselves, the three photographers soon realise they’re the ones who need to respond, with a self-portrait.
Reflect challenges popular notions of the ubiquitous selfie – are these images a vacuous representation of who we are, and could the self-portrait be the new selfie?
The Lab series is designed to shift creative thinking behind the lens and challenge the creative community to think differently.
