Former Test cricketer Merv Hughes, ex-AFL coach Paul Roos and former NRL player Adam MacDougall have teamed up in a cheeky new TVC to promote a new weight loss shake brand for men.
The TVC features the three sporting legends getting together in a bar, where Roos reveals the secret to his good health is “shaking it” twice a day – a reference to The Man Shake brand.
MacDougall, who formulated The Man Shake, said the campaign highlights that you don’t need to be an elite sportsperson to get the benefits from a protein shake, and was also created to address the growing obesity issue in Australia.
“It’s a pretty serious issue,” he said. “But we wanted to use a bit of humour to cut through and show blokes that they can lose the beer gut without losing all the beers.”
Brian Daly, writer and director from The Proverbials, said: “It’s a pretty easy way to lose weight. All you have to do is grab your package and give it a shake a couple of times a day.
“Any bloke can do that. And that’s where the idea for the spot came from. The guys played it up beautifully.”
