We might be forgiven for feeling gloomy about the state of the internet. Between data leaks, privacy erosions, ethical dilemmas and unintended consequences, we can easily fall into the trap of questioning the benefits of the world wide web and our behaviours in the digital realm.

However the beauty of the internet is also unfathomable. Our lives were forever changed from that very first message sent via ARPANET in 1969.

Over the past 50 years the internet has impacted every single aspect of our lives, from the mundane to the significant.
