On Monday, just hours after the Lakers were crowned 2019-2020 NBA champions, Nike dropped a brilliant piece of creative to celebrate the win.
“You Can’t Stop LA” recognises all of the challenges that 2020 has brought with it, from the death of Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna to the COVID-19 pandemic, which threatened to end the season before it was completed.
Running through the turbulent events of the season, the narrator concludes the video saying: “Because we lost so much, this win means so much more.”

The ad follows the theme of Nike’s previous ‘you can’t stop us‘ ads, which were released amid the pandemic to showcase how athletes were persevering through lockdown.
To celebrate the return of the NBA in July, Nike shared the next iteration of the campaign.
Nike also celebrated the legendary tennis sisters Venus and Serena Williams with a ‘you can’t stop sisters’ ad.
